Learners from the Department of Creative Industries showcased a wide range of costume designs based on diverse themes relating to Stirling including industry, architecture, landscape and history.
The result was an eclectic mix of styles with something to appeal to everyone.
Learners from the College’s HND Art and Design group, supported by their lecturers, were the driving force behind the event, with other learners adding their own expertise.
John Darrien, a learner in HND Visual Communication, designed the promotional material for the event and Fraser Smith and Michael Tierny of HND Sound Production took care of the sound and lighting. Students on the Hairand Beauty programmes created looks to complement the clothes, and those attending the event were also treated to refreshments prepared and served by learners studying Hospitality. The catwalk was built by learners from the Department of Construction.
Campus Crafts, a college-wide Enterprise initiative, sold a selection of creative goods on the night while local businesses generously provided a range of raffle prizes.
Ticket sales and proceeds from the raffle are being donated to the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.
Learners at FVC created a poster to be used for the event. Please click below to open and view the poster created.

Cathy Snedden, Head of Creative Industries at Forth Valley College said:
“I was delighted with the quality of the fashion show this year and proud of the way in which our learners planned, designed and managed the whole event, from start to finish. The show was the first to be held at our beautiful new Stirling Campus so it was only fitting that the general theme be related to the local area. The diverse range of looks created really demonstrated how imaginative and talented our students are. It was a dazzling display and the skills involved in putting on such an event will serve our learners well in their future careers.”
